Two large fish habitat assessments are currently underway, one in the Walla Walla Basin and the other in the Umatilla Basin.
The Upper Walla Walla River Assessment and Action Plan is well underway in the Walla Walla basin. The assessment includes the procurement of LiDAR to assess the existing conditions in the upper Walla Walla basin. The efforts will include a framework to prioritize future restoration projects.
The Mainstem Umatilla Assessment and Strategic Action Plan is just getting started. The extensive effort with assess the current stream and floodplain conditions of the mainstem Umatilla River basin and prioritize future reaches for restoration efforts.
